Correlation between aflatoxin and ocratoxin levels with production parameters in a poultry company.

Abstract
Quantitative analyses for aflatoxin and ocratoxin were realised in 18 samples of feed that had been collected in the feed factory and in the poultry farms, and in the liver and kidneys of underdeveloped birds that had eaten this feed. Samples were separated in four groups of six poultry producers, corresponding to summer, fall, winter and spring (Groups 1, 2, 3 and 4). Toxins detection had been realised through a commercial ELISA testing system and the results were analysed by statistical techniques of Correlation and Regression Analyses. Minimum level of a <0,05 had been considered statistically significant. Aflatoxin and ocratoxin levels, jointly and separately, had been compared to the flocks productive rate, as index of food conversion, percentage of mortality, rate of gain weight, percentage of condemnation and efficiency index of producer. For aflatoxin had been obtained a significant correlation between the toxin detected in liver and efficiency index of producer (r=-0,82), toxin detected in in-farm feed and percentage of mortality (r=0,80), and in-farm feed and toxin detected in liver (r=0,43). Ocratoxin results had not showed any significant correlation with productive parameters. Synergica action of aflatoxin and ocratoxin were observed in the following results: for Group 1, toxins that had been detected in factory feed showing a significant correlation (r=-0,61) with the efficiency index of producer. This relation were quantified through a regression equation, where Y=249,6-2,007X (r2=0,37). In-farm feed had significantly been correlated with food conversion (r=0,86), where Y=1,95+0,011X(r20,74). For Group 2, toxins that had been detected in broiler innards (liver and kidneys) had showed a significant correlation with percentage of mortality (r=0,64), where Y=1,288+0,325X(r2=0,41). For Group 3, toxins that had been detected in poultry innards had presented a significant correlation with efficiency index of producers (r=-0,69), where Y=245,9-3,46X(r2=0,47). From these results we can conclude that is possible correlating feed and broiler innards levels of aflatoxin and ocratoxin with productive parameters of flocks.
